How to send out holiday cards
How I did it: I made a list...cards that have to go out, cards I want to go out, cards I'll write if I have the time. All the ones that *had* to go out did, and about half the ones I wanted. I'm calling it done.
The success was the response I got. People who hadn't sent me cards before the holidays did. One person had a treacherous trip back from her family's home that involved losing her phone and two car accidents, and she said finding it in the mail when she did finally get home safely was a spot of sunshine on a very dark day.
Lessons & tips: Make a list.
Buy cards when you find them on sale the year before.
Start early.
Get stamps you actually like. I put 45cents postage on everything because I can't stand any of the holiday stamps from this year, but this and this made me really happy.
Create a few "form letters" for people you don't really know.
Think positively about the past year before you start writing about all the bad stuff!
Resources: Paper Source for cards.
USPS for stamps.
