How to participate in a political protest
How I did it: Well, first off, let me say that I had listed this as a goal because I thought I wanted to do it again. Meaning, I had actually participated in about 5 political protests when I was in college and I thought, "Hey, I should do it again," so I listed it as a goal. But, I have been thinking about it, and I think 5 times is enough, so I am moving on from this and am going to write about the 5 I have already done!
Lessons & tips: Well, it can be awkward to attend these student meetings if you don't know anybody else, so be ready to meet new people. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this but what also made it awkward was that I felt most of these students groups were overwhelmingly male-run, which made feel more awkward in participating with a majority of strong men with very strong opinions.
Resources:
- It kinda helped to be a student at UC Berkeley, where there are so many political student groups.
- Making friends who are willing to participate with you helps a lot too!
