How to build a greenhouse
How I did it: For about $24 I was able to buy enough supplies to put up a cedar stick frame around two beds and cover them will 6 mil sheeting to extend the seasons a bit. It's a long ways from having a 'real' greenhouse, but it will help a bit in the meantime and hopefully give us a bigger winter veggie crop. It turned out kind of ugly though, and I'm sure the neighbors think it's an eyesore.
Lessons & tips: A kit might be the way to go if you don't feel very crafty. This turned out to be more of a production than I thought it would be. I was not able to complete it without help holding up boards and adjusting the plastic over the top.
Resources: We got all the supplies at Dunn Lumber on Lake Union in Seattle, WA. They aren't as evil as Home Despot and Lowe's, and their friendly staff actually know how to build and where everything in the store is located. HD and Lowe's are staffed by people who have never even picked up a hammer except to shelve it or ring it up at work.
