How I did it: I honestly gave up at the end of the year because the job market was so dismal. After an entire year of living on the meager sums I got from babysitting, I was burnt out. But I remembered seeing a job with a spa open before the year ended. Two weeks ago I went back to see if the position had been filled and found it was still open. So I applied and received a call to interview. After two interviews, I got the job!

Lessons & tips: Patience is the most important thing with this job market. It's going to take a lot longer to get a job then you expect. And it's fine to take a break but make sure you don't give up completely. Also, it may be tempting to ignore jobs because they're lower than you're previous position. But you can't let your pride get in the way of getting back into the job market.
