How to curb my road rage
How I did it: FORCED myself to not say a single comment- in my head or out loud. I know everyone else is stupid compared to me, and I don’t need to remind anyone. I just chose to ignore tailgaters (almost impossible at the time) and people who are going 10 over on city streets, and then go 10 under on the highway, blocking both lanes of traffic. I just chose to smile.
Weeks 1-3 killed me.
By week 4 I started feeling a change inside me- almost a relief- and independence of the stupidity of the people around me
Weeks 5 and 6 it started feeling fake and silly
But then by weeks 7 and 8 it started getting a lot easier.
It’s been a year now since I’ve flipped anybody off, or screamed, or raced off in a huff. I can genuinely say that my life and self respect have increased significantly thanks to this change. It will last forever.
Now I just shake my head and think “how sad- thank God that isn’t me anymore” when I see all those other people raging…
