How to get an industrial piercing
How I did it: I got it done when I was 17 (almost two years ago... how did I get so old?!), which means I had to prod my parents for what seemed like an eternity before they agreed to let me get it done. My mom came with me, signed the forms, and then decided the whole thing was too scary and went to wait in the car.
I had read online that it was a painful piercing... but I had no idea. It stands as the most painful piercing I've ever gotten. The first hole was fine, and I thought I'd been worrying for nothing... but then came the second hole. Pain times a million. Jewelry insertion was worse. It bled a lot, and was pretty swollen and throbby for a few days afterward (I also caught it on a towel the day after I got it... O.O). It was actually sore for about 7 months entirely.
All that said, it's now all healed up and has turned out perfectly. One of my favorite piercings for sure.
Lessons & tips: - Don't let my experience scare you, heh. Pain is subjective; I tend to be a big baby.
- Seems rather elementary, but don't touch. Don't move the jewelry, and defo don't snag a towel on it.
- Wait a loooong time to change the jewelry, and when you do, choose an appropriately sized barbell. I was pierced with a 1 1/2", and after I changed to a 1 1/4" it got much better, because it wasn't getting bumped around as much.
