How to become a teacher
It made me
Nervous, but great! 
"Fulfilling!"
How I did it:
- An application to Usyd for the BTeach/Mteach program.
- 18 months of coursework, including 2 practicums.
- 18 months later, became a qualified teacher with a bachelors degree (4 year training equivalent).
- Straight onto the connected Masters component on 9 week internship.
- Writing and submission of an Action Learning Report based on educational research about teaching methodology conducted whilst on internship.
- Open results letter 2 months later!
Lessons & tips:
- Stay focued, keep your eye on the prize.
- It also helps to remind yourself why, and who you are doing this for.
- Focus on the kind of teacher you want to become, and take the steps and planning needed to make this work.

- Counselling. No, seriously.
- Weekly (if not daily) colleague de-stress meetings.
- Loose leaf paper and a million red pens.
