P.S. – He was honking and eating a ton because he started losing his teeth. We switched to soaking his dry food in water, and now he eats more normally and doesn’t have any issues.
How to help my cat lose weight

How I did it: I cut back his portions, and started feeding him moist food. My motivation for this was that the hard food started making him vomit more frequently and I was worried.
I feel him a small can of cat food a day (he is a big breed), but I give him half earlier in the day and half later, so it doesn't defer from his previous feeding routine of 1/3 cup dry in the morning and 1/3 dry in the evening.
He zips around the house like crazy, and it doesn't sound like a grown man is walking across our hardwood floors anymore! He also has a longer leaping distance!
