How to become Financially Independent
"I have been to uni a couple of times, whilst working inbetween. I always survived mostly on my own, but there were times when I relied on my mum to pay for bigger expenses, like deposits on rental properties and the like. "
How I did it: I have now left uni for the last time (hopefully!) and have a steady job in London. I have lots of debt, but I am working towards paying that off and have not had to ask for any handouts for 6 months now. After spending a long time planning my budget out and making sure I stick to it, I am ensuring I never have to ask for handouts again, and am even aiming to help my mum pay off some of her debts too.
Lessons & tips: Budgeting is key. Make full use of any money you earn, and only pay out what you can afford to.
