How to go letterboxing
"Like a real-life treasure hunt!"
How I did it: I visited www.atlasquest.com to get started finding letterboxes in my area. I already had a rubber stamp (store-bought, not hand-carved, sadly) to use and a handmade paper book to use as my logbook. My first time out, I tried to find three different letterboxes, and had no luck on the first two. When I found the third, it made it all worthwhile!
Lessons & tips:
- Don't give up if you don't find the first one you're looking for.
- Take a friend with you. Not only does it help you stay safe, but a different perspective on the clues is also helpful sometimes.
- Always re-hide the letterboxes well! If other people find them, they often disappear.
- Take a compass, plenty of water, and a grain of patience.
