How to have my own Domain Name
"Finding a domain name in 1999 was difficult, but it's not any easier today."
How I did it: My first domain name I purchased was lithiumdata.com. I wanted to be goldsoftware.com, or something like that, and all the popular metals had been purchased. I liked lithium because of the high energy batteries, but most people associate lithium with the drug for treating depression.
When I got married, I decided to buy a domain for my wife and I to list our travels on. We came up with www.theeggeadventure.com. Having a unique surname made this an easy buy.
Lessons & tips: I know as a left-brain type, I'm not great at coming up with creative names, but I've found if you have enough people trying, they can usually do a better job than you can on your own.
Resources: onlinewordmine.com - This is a service I created first to help me come up with domain names, but then to allow other people to do the same.
godaddy.com - I register all my domains here.
