How to go to more shows
"The most fun I've ever had."
How I did it: I started off by "friending" bands that I like on Myspace. By doing so I then had access to all of their bulletins and information on their upcoming shows.
Then... I WENT to the shows. I've actually met most of my closest friends at one show or another over the years and now we go to shows together!
Another thing that I do besides just GO to the shows is that I take pictures. Most of the bands that I like to go see are local and they love it when you take pictures. After the shows I'll either email the pictures to the band or post them on my Myspace page.

Since I've been doing this, I now get invited by the bands themselves to come to shows and often times get put on the guest lists as well.
Recently I was given tickets and "all access" passes to see Unwritten Law at the San Diego House of Blues by their bass player, just because he knew I was coming and because he's nice. And at the last show that I went to, I was allowed "all access" the whole night (even without a wristband) and got to watch Death By Stereo and Agnostic Front (among others) from the side stage! I guess it's all in who you know, you know?
Musicians are just people too. If this is the kind of thing you like to do... just do it.
Lessons & tips: Get into your local music scene. Support your local musicians!
