How I did it: You really just have to decide a word count per day, and stick to it. When you're reaching your deadline and you're running out of time - you start making crap up.
Resources: Find your area coordinator, go to write-ins. It's always great to take time out and meet other people going through the madness. It's pretty much the best part.
