"Plan ahead and find ways to save money"

How I did it: I started planing over a year in advance.  Things like accommodations and transportation allow you to book one year in advance, so I knew where and when I wanted to be at the Games by then.

These are the things you need to book in advance:
  • Lodging
  • Transportation to the Lodging
  • Tickets to events 
  • Transportation to the events  

Lessons & tips: Try to save money any way you can.  I started saving up the same time I started planning the trip, so I had a year to save up.

Here are some ways to save money during the trip:
  • Stay in a hostel instead of a hotel
  • Take the train 
  • Bring your own food everywhere 
  • Go with someone else to split costs 
  • Stay far from the venues and bus to them 
  • Find free things to do (there were plenty in Vancouver for the Winter Games)

We did almost everything, the lines were so long it’s impossible to make time for everything.
