How to spend a week away from the Internet, and not miss it
How I did it: I was housing sitting at my friends parents house. They do not have wireless internet (shocking, I know) and the only computer they have is in her dad's office and is password protected. I could have asked for the password, however I decided that I could live for one week without the internet. I was amazing. I never realized how much time I waste online. I got so much more done without a computer in front of me. I actually did all of my homework and studying, and I was able to read more and enjoy myself. I started to realize that I spend a lot of time online doing nothing, shopping online spending money I don't have, and stalking people on facebook. Now that I am back home I am trying to stop myself from getting online for pointless things now. I only get online to do homework for my online classes or to check my school email. Although I usually end up on facebook or amazon, I try to limit the time I spend on there. Overall it is an eye-opening experience. Some times we forget that there is life outside of the internet.
Lessons & tips: When you want to get online, find something else to occupy your mind with. There are plenty of things you could be doing other than wasting time on the internet.
Resources: If you can go somewhere that doesn't have internet access.
