How to give up sugar for a week
How I did it: I cut out all added sugars (including honey). So no sweets, cake, etc. or bread or some cereals.
The hardest part was upsetting my mum when I went home on the weekend by not eating the food she'd bought as a surprise. That was horrible. It was the last day of the week though so I wanted to do it.
I missed hot-chocolate as I don't drink tea or coffee and like hot-chocolate as a 'pick me up' but switched to warm milk or cocoa instead. Also missed being able to buy sandwhiches as had to get up early everyday to make my own flat-bread.
Didn't have any sweet/chocoalte cravings, but started to find milk fairly sweet.
May make more of an effort to bake my own bread, and to eat less sugary food but didn't feel the sugar free week was that hard craving wise.
Lessons & tips: Plan ahead. A lot of food you might take for granted has added sugar in.
Stock up on fruit if you think you'll miss the sweetness.
It's not hard once you start so if you want to do it just do it.
