How to give a rehearsal dinner
"Staying organized and hiring the best help made this a wonderful experience! "
How I did it:
- Found a venue - in this case the lovely Victorian parish house of the church where I'm a member.
- Researched caterers, then asked for proposals from my top three choices, and finally, chose the best from the results of their proposals and recommendations and tasting.
- Made a list of everyone who should be invited.
- Designed and sent out invitations.
- Kept track of how many responded. (Later, tracked down s few laggards for their answers!)
- Met with the caterer and the staff of the parish house to go over details.
- Had my hubby pick out music for dining.
- Bought table decor.
- Set up a slideshow for after-dinner entertainment.
- Thoroughly enjoyed the event!!! The caterer and parish house staff did such a good job, I could relax and have a good time.
Lessons & tips:
- Get at least three quotes from caterers or restaurants.
- Taste the food!
- Check out recommendations to make sure the caterer or restaurant perform as advertised.
- Stay organized! Lists will help keep you sane.
- Know your budget and stay within it. You can give a very nice party for a reasonable amount and not go into debt! Be creative.
- Have a plan B if something goes awry. It really prevents worry if you know what vto do if something doesn't go quite as expected.
- Relax and enjoy! If you're having a good time, your guests will, too.
