How I did it: First and foremost I have a New Living Translation Bible that is written in the same language I speak, modern English.  If all I had was a King James Bible I wouldn't read it.  Secondly, I had tried to read The Bible cover to cover on several occasions and failed.  This time, rather than reading in chronologicial order, I read whatever book I felt motivated to read and put a check beside it after I finished.  Thirdly, I tried to read The Bible with an open mind, reading what it actually said rather than what I've been taught or assumed.

Lessons & tips: I recommend reading 2-3 chapters a day.  That will take you from 13 months to a year and a half.  If you get behind, like I did on several occassions, you'll have to read a lot more in order to get back on schedule.  I found that if I read more than 3 chapters a day I wasn't as focused and didn't retain the information as well.
