How to master cleanse
How I did it: I set my mind to it from the get go. I think the biggest thing that helped me was the decision to only stop when I *knew* I was done.I wouldn't allow myself to stop simply because I *wanted* to eat. I wouldn't stop because I felt like crap. I went into this *knowing* there would be days I would feel like hell, so when those days occurred I plugged on. Some mornings, in the shower I'd have to prop myself up against the wall and just breathe, waiting for the wave of dizziness and weakness to pass. Instead of giving into fear and thinking, "I'm like this because I'm harming myself" I reminded myself that my body was in control, it was detoxing and this was a normal and healthy experience.
I kept reminding myself that I wasn't in any danger and that the feelings I had were merely unpleasant, not detrimental. To the contrary, they were due to something beneficial, purging of toxins.
I drank about 80 oz. of the lemonade per day, instead of the recommended 64. I work about 60-65 hours a week, I needed more calories. It worked fine. On day 20, I switched to a juice fast to change it up a bit. It's something I did to keep myself sane. I juiced oranges, pineapple, strawberries, etc. On day 30, I returned to MC to end the fast.
Lessons & tips: Keep hydrated. I drank a ton of water everyday. I found that if I didn't get enough water right before bed, the mornings were worse. Also, drink a huge glass of water right when you get up, after you brush your teeth. That helped me feel better quicker.I got up about 45 minutes to an hour earlier than I normally would before work, to make sure I had enough time to normalize before I left.Invest in an electric juicer. You will save yourself tons of time and you will get way more juice out of your lemons. I mixed the lemon/maple syrup together in the morning and just measured it out into 20 oz. of water as I needed it. If you premix everything (water, juice, syrup) you will kill the enzymes in the lemon and it won't be as beneficial. As far as the laxative tea goes, I can't stand Smooth Move. I'm one of the people it hurts. It sucks and I hate it. I used "Swill Kriss" flake form. It's much like Smooth Move, but it doesn't cause the wicked cramping. Take it before bed and be ready for it to work in the morning. STAY HYDRATED!!!!!!Don't let people around you tell you you're hurting yourself. Where were they when you were stuffing a hydrogenated cupcake in your face? They weren't telling you *then* that you were hurting yourself. Most people who nay-say fasting have *no* idea what fasting is about, how to do it or what the benefits are.Trust your body, it knows what it's doing.
