How I did it: I found an awesome deal on airfare to Rome, Italy. And while I was hoping to have someone to travel with me, no one could. SO, I decided to fly solo. After narrowing down my travel times I looked at the costs for hotels and bed and breakfasts during that time period as well as the temperatures in Italy for that time. Once I figured that out, I looked at some websites to get an idea of what I wanted to check out (I mean besides all the obvious places) and got a general idea on those. Finally, I told myself not to stress while there and to just go with the flow. As a result I had a great time. and now know I can find my way around a unknown place.

Lessons & tips: While it's great to be prepared, it's also important to be flexible. Some of the most interesting things I saw were when I was wandering the streets semi-lost.
