How to read 43 classics
How I did it: I pick up a classic or two a year and read them.
I read a scary books in October. There are actually many to choose from - Frankenstein, Doctor Jeckle and Mr. Hyde, the Headless Horseman and Dracula.
I often listening to the classics on my commute.
Lessons & tips: Feel free to drop the book if you are lost, or do not enjoy it. I stopped reading A Tale of Two Cities because I could not get into it.
Don't forget children's books. I enjoyed Bambi, Alice in Wonderland and all of little house books. Mark Twain's books are also excellent.
Use Cliff notes when necessary. I was confused with both Gulliver's Travels and Brave New World. The notes on them really helped me understand what the author was saying. Note on Shakespeare are necessary.
Try several different time periods. I have read ancient
Roman books, French literature, early American writing, and Elizabethan novels.
Do a little research before you tackle a book. I will never read Moby Dick because several people said it was tough reading.
Resources: A library card.
