How I did it: I went to the humane society her, in St Louis, and got him. It took about 30 minutes to pick one out, and then I spent about an hour filling out paper work, waiting for him to be microchipped, and asking the nice people questions.
Lessons & tips: Bring a cat crate with you to the humane society. Cat's don't really like the boxes they put them in, or at least mine didn't.
Oh, and buy a litter box and litter and all that stuff before you get the cat.
