How to learn the Cyrillic Alphabet
How I did it: I wanted to learn Russian so I bought a very good book called the "New Penguin Russian Course" and lesson 1 was all about the Russian alphabet. A quick google search turned up plenty of resources that let me hear the sounds and after a couple of days practice I found that I was able to read cyrillic texts slowly but reliably.
I am now teaching myself Russian and hope to attempt one of the basic levels of the Test of Russian as a Foreign Language (aka TORFL, aka TRKI, a test developed by the Russian Ministry of Education) next summer.
Lessons & tips: Keep at it, it shouldn't take too long to learn.
Practice reading cyrillic words, it's immensely rewarding when you understand them. Try these for practice:
Да
Нет
Водка
Аэропорт
Такси
Радио
Правда
Борщ
Москва
Беларусь
Компьютер
Большой театр
