How to find a new job
How I did it: I left the job I found in the cafe because they said I was too slow. I was running like an idiot but that's the way it works for them. They are sooo unorganized and want to save money by employing less people so they actually want to pay only two people to work in one cafe in one of the busiest areas in London. I had just started and my manager told me I had to increase my speed because they will have even more customers in the summer so I asked myself should I feel sick in the morning and in the evening and hate the world - and hate the customers as every single one of my colleagues does - and hate myself for being a slave or should I risk everything and tell the robots to go to hell just because I can, and do it in the name of those who can't who become robots themselves to pay the rent even if I don't have money for the rent so I actually might screw my present life and hate myself for being so proud and stupid? Well of course I left, I'd rather be on the street than adhere to their crazy standards.
I like to believe that I'm fighting for human rights in a weird -makesmelooklikeI'mlazywellmaybeIambutthat'snotthepoint- sort of way.
I mean being quick is not even a standard. It's just a pin they put under your feet so that they can make more money using you.
I don't think it should be legal, at least not for such a big company. They are making a lot of money and opening new stores and la la la and they pay people the minimum wage and think they can complain as well?? Bye Bye. I am so proud and stupid.
So I found a temporary job for the next week. I will work like a slave serving drinks for the minimum wage for five days, but at least I will be safe for an extra couple of weeks which is good because school is almost over so if I'll have to look for a new job I won't have to say I need to attend my classes. Because of course they also want you to be free all of the stupid week. aarhrhhgghghh!
I need a door carpet personality.
Before I'll actually have to sleep on door carpets.
Lessons & tips: Never leave your old job unless you have already found a new one. Or if you do make sure you always have 2-3 months of rent in your bank account so that you can actually choose what you want to do and don't let anyone take advantage of you.
Even if that's the reason you want to leave your job in the first place. It can always get worse.
Any experiences can improve your cv. Volunteering is usually easy to do.
And try not to feel like you're not worthy because you don't have a job.
All they want from you is efficiency. On their own terms.
So it's actually ok that you are a human being and not their perfect candidate.
