How I did it: I started making the list 3 years ago. I tried to vary the goals across many areas of life rather than just focus on one. It took me about 2 months to make the list and then I just tried to make small steps towards them all the time - planning stops on vacation, taking opportunities to practice skills, and so on.
Lessons & tips: Don't feel tied to your original list. Make changes whenever it seems appropriate.
