what about ...
... something like “identify people who put America and the American people above all else and support their run for office”
There are some brilliant people on both sides of the aisle, and had Elizabeth Dole not run that silly “godless” ad we would have had her in office for anther six years. Her service as the head of the Red Cross makes her someone I greatly admire and someone whom I think could have been a great part of this next Congress (yup, there are people on both sides of the aisle I like)
Of course I still have hope for Sarah Palin, that spotlight into which she was tossed has given her tremendous political capital, and her personal experience as a mother of a pregnant teen, soon-to-be mother in law of a high school drop out, mother of a special needs child, as well as her ability to really roll with the jokes, she can do tremendous things for the “least of these” among us. (whoopsie, starting to let those bit of Scripture creep in again)
Of course soldiers make great leaders, and I am sure that in 2 years, and even moreso in 4 years, we will see a great many of our Iraq-Afganistan veterans run for Congress on both tickets. How can anyone doubt the love of country of our veterans.
So perhaps an “America” oriented goal will bring people from both sides together to join you. Whadda ya think?
Enjoy 43 Things
Sorry but I must decline. I am a conservative Republican, so I would not agree with any of the liberal direction; our soon to be, President Obama and the Democrat US Senate and House will drag the 48% of citizens that did not vote for him.
I believe that Government’s primary goal is to preserve, protect and defend our God given gift of freedom.
Frankly, I fear where our Country will be 2 years from now (Nov 2010), when we (the voters) will have the next chance to have our voices heard again. I suspect as a result of Democrat over reaching, there will be CHANGE then.
As far as, your suggestion, I also suspect we would not have much to agree on, as well meaning and maybe idealistic that a goal of that type you suggested. Like “world peace” or helping “find a cure” for Aids or Cancer, we will probably never see them materialize.
I like 43 Things, because goals are personal (for me), and not popular. I must tell you John, I did resent many of your postings, on my goal. Especially so with, your questionable photo of Gov Palin face on the girl in the swimsuit, which you promised to remove and forgot to get around to it.
I also like 43 Things because you can CHEER and sometimes team with others, as they work on or accomplish a goal. I don’t like confrontation, and try to avoid it as much as possible.
Therefore, may I suggest, you chose your own goals. In addition, maybe, we will find something to team on. Nevertheless, I promise you, I will not bully you as you enjoy 43 Things. I hope you can do the same. I really do think you are a good man.
well said
we don’t all have to agree, nor should we. Let me know when you make the new goal. Invite me to join on as a team member. I am interested in a Conservative Republican goal. I think America will be more than reading for a change in two years and I can only hope my husband can also vote by then.
