How I did it: My 10,000th cheers went to sitruunapuu on her goal, Identify 1000 things that make me happyI try and cheer people as much as they cheer me. I am rather behind at the moment (I'm 3 pages into my 'cheers received' page, but I'll get there, eventually). Read how I did it…
How I did it: First I was looking through some YouTube videos on how to cut your own hair, layers and such (I was rather fed up with one layer hair). And then I came across this little gadget called the creaclip, looks very much like a clip you put on food in bags to stop the food going soft/bad with a comb inside and a spirit level. You can see more info about them hereAnyway, that's how I did it, and it's a tool I can use again and again to trim my h… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Since we had two weddings there was loads of planning involved, and a lot of help from my parents in England because many things we just couldn't sort out, living in Sweden as we do. Our English wedding was not deemed 'official' since you can't get married outside in England, but it was official to us, since it was on the 2nd of July, exactly four years after we first met in Stockholm. I have written about our relationship in many differe… Read how I did it…
How I did it: We took our Earth Hour a step further and turned off all electrical appliances, I even made a paper lantern. We played some board games and just had some fun. Too often in life gadgets and gizmos are present, so we wanted a little bit of time without them, and it was cosy and enjoyable. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I bought a pattern online (from Etsy.com) and cut the pieces for it ages ago. However, I didn't have a sewing machine at that time, so put it on hold. Once I got one, though, the process was pretty quick, even with bias binding, which was a completely new thing to me. It's not good enough to sell, but it's definitely good enough to wear, which is what I wanted it for anyway :) Read how I did it…
How I did it: I found a website that let's you download a file (for a price, of course) with your name in Japanese. Although researching this (as I can't remember where I got it from), I have found a name translator dictionary. You just type in your name and press 'translate' and it'll give you the characters needed, for free :)It also gives you a handy pronounciation of your name (how it would be said in Japanese), which is also pretty cool. How I did it: I only kept track of films I hadn't seen before, so my actual number of viewed films is much larger. But still, I think 165 new films in a year is a lot. Whether I will do this again, I doubt it, although I still keep track of what I watch/read/consume on allconsuming.net. Once you start this, it's easy to keep going. I was watching films a lot this year to try and complete film lists I had on 43things list site, and once I'd seen a coupl… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Erik gave me a card, inside there were some lyrics from a favourite song of ours, then it said 'turn on the radio', which I did, and the song was playing. Then, Erik gave me a box, and said I couldn't open it unless I answered yes to a question, hehe, and of course, I did say yes, and in the box was a gold and pink locket with our pictures inside :) Read how I did it…
How I did it: Read ebooks, borrowed library books, and finished a few books I had kicking around at home. I wanted to read a lot more than I did last year (which wasn't too bad a number of books, really), and I have a lot of lists of books to read, so the choice was always great. And I love my local library, it is a very up-to-date and enjoyable system, not like back in the UK. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I'd had a basic step counter before, and it didn't really do the job, the smallest movement would register as a step. So I decided to buy a better one, and I am hoping to use it for a week in every day activity (as it stores your steps for a week), see the average number I am getting and try and increase that number by 100 each week, until I get to 10,000. But I can thoroughly recommend the one I bought, it is an Omron 'Walking Style II',… Read how I did it…
How I did it: We'd been watching a program on TV about HIV and Aids, presented by Stephen Fry. It was really good to see, and made me realise both Erik and I should get tested. We've both had previous relationships, and though we wee pretty sure we didn't have HIV, it's still a wise move to get tested. We went to a drop in place at our local hospital, filled out some forms, had our blood taken, and that was that. A week later your results come back, bu… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I moved from England to Sweden to be with my boyfriend Erik. I moved exactly a year ago. It's been great living with my boyfriend, and this has been my first home away from my family. It hasn't all been good, though. I have had great difficulty in finding jobs, even getting interviews! I still do not have a job, and we get by with a little help from my parents, and Erik's uni money. Sadly this will mean I will be going back to England in … Read how I did it…
How I did it: I just kept cheering people. I cheered those who had cheered me, and when I had leftover cheers, I used Zeitgeist to find interesting goals and entries, and cheered those, too. Sometimes I also explore my own goals and cheer other with the same goals. My 8000th went to newcomer kaylarobertson Read how I did it…
How I did it: We gave each other a card this morning, then in the afternoon we went for a picnic at the lake not too far away. It's a lovely, hot day today. This evening we are having Chicken Satay and rice (yum!), then we'll probably watch a film and have sweets, and pretend we're at the cinema :) Read how I did it…
How I did it: Every day, I wrote a to-do list on a post-it, some things are constant, like reading (but I don't add things like 'cook the tea' because I never forget that!), and others I will just do on that day, because I am in the mood to. It has also helped me in my other goals, if I plan them well, I can get things accomplished faster than I would previously have done. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Well, I met a guy I wanted to be with. Trouble was, we lived in different countries, and he couldn't move to mine, as he was going to be studying for a few more years, and long distance is very tough. It wasn't long before we talked about living together. My parents were of course apprehensive, but soon realised I was very serious about it, and determined, and they know there can be no stopping me then. I had even started to learn Swedish… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Accept who I am, who I was, and face who I am going to be calmly and happily. What happens, happens, and there's only a certain amount of things you can do to change your destiny. I am who I am, and I'm happy with it. I'm not like anyone else I know, which is good. To be unique is a good thing. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I went through all my entries and added tags. It was nice to find out that some of my longer standing goals already had tags, so I didn't need to add them (but I thought of a few new tags to add to most of those). I always used to tag my goals as they came up, and I want to try and make a habit of this again. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I had my first Christmas in Sweden, my new home. It was very unlikely I'd ever have a white Christmas in Bristol, England, my home town. It felt very nice, but having a Christmas away from your family, with different traditions and ways, it's never the same. If I could have a white Christmas every year, or a Christmas with my family, I know which I'd choose :) Read how I did it…
How I did it: I moved for love. My boyfriend, Erik is studying right now, and a long distance relationship can only be that for so long, so I decided to move to Sweden to be with him. I had visited him here a couple of times, and loved it. Although, I was aware that I was seeing the country as a visitor, and day to day life isn't always as rose-tinted. I moved in with Erik almost three months ago, and so far it's going well, I'm learning Swedish, and I… Read how I did it…
