How I did it: Just try to read more than you read the year before. I posted all the books I read throughout this year on my first post on this goal.I plan to update this goal in 2013 even though it's a "done" goal. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I signed up to YMCA and the personal trainer there taught me how to use the weight lifting machines. I used to go to another gym several years ago, for 3 years and I NEVER cared to lift weights or had any personnel teach me how to do it.Once he hooked me up with the machines I realized how easy it is! I started slow, 10lbs here, 30 there, up to 55lbs but one day I took my older sister to the YMCA and she lifted 150lbs in one machine.I was… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Waiting outside of a restaurant yesterday when suddenly it started to rain. Here in L.A. it seems that rain is rare now and comes and goes whenever it pleases.I stepped back to avoid getting wet and noticed that it wasn't rain, it was hail!I jumped out in the cold night and danced as the hail fell on me. And as sudden as it started, it stopped. My brother made a video of me dancing and I was happy to have that moment recorded.Again, as su… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I saw this goal in November and followed it right away. Every two weeks I would buy new flowers at the market and put a couple in a small vase in my room and the rest in the living room.It is nice to wake up, get up and see flowers sitting near me every morning.I'll always buy myself flowers to brighten my mood and my house! How I did it: I could have spent some of the money purchasing anything and think "Well, next month I'll need to double the amount I put on my savings" but that kind of thinking can backfire.I wanted to have 10k saved simply because I thought it was a reasonable amount of money and a realistic goal.I planned to save $1000 a month but when I could add more to my savings accounts, I would do it without hesitation. How I did it: Put your alarm clock to ring on a certain time, get up when it rings and start your day fresh!I did all the things that "eat me and nag me away" earlier and had plenty of time left to do everything I wanted.I also had to go to bed earlier in order to wake up at 6:30am rested so it is important to remember that if you are going to wake up before 7am, you need to sleep 8 hours and should go to bed before 11pm.I plan to get up everyday befor… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I purchased all the ingredients I needed and pondered for a while if I needed a baking stone - decided against it.I mixed the ingredients, kneaded, let it rest, etc etc.....And finally tried my pizza.Needed more salt.I have made so far about 4 pizzas and I keep improving every time. Try it too. Read how I did it…
How I did it: The outlet was about 50 miles away and I arrived there at 10:40pm. There were a lot of people already there but luckily I got a parking spot in less than 10 minutes!Several stores were already open but many of them didn't have good clothing. The best stores had ridiculously long lines. I chose to first shop for my family's gifts and then find something for me later. One store sadly didn't have anything in my size anymore when I went there … Read how I did it…
How I did it: I borrowed from a friend and read everyday a bit.Sometimes during my reading I disliked Jobs but most of the times I understood why he acted like a jerk. He pushed people because people doubted themselves, they though they couldn't make something, that something was impossible...and Steve would show them that it was possible. He was a great leader, and a talent scout; he knew exactly who had a talent and who didn't and that's why he only … Read how I did it…
How I did it: I cannot believe I have never been interested in reading this classic book.I picked up this book today at the library and devoured it in a few hours. I chose one with the original illustrations by John Tenniel. This book is fun and witty.I am looking forward to read Through the Looking Glass and what Alice found there. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I watched a video in which Will Smith said that he liked "The Alchemist". I think Will is a great actor and he also seems to be a good person so I thought in taking a look at the book.I have never heard good things about the writer, but kept those opinions aside when I picked up the book at the library.Basically, the book tells that we all have something we are destined to; we should discover what it is and go after it. The ones who… Read how I did it…
How I did it: After I paid off my debt and used all my savings to buy stocks, I started saving all over again.I only spend money when I am in need of something, not because it's on sale. Sales are traitors; people fall for the 50% off and start buying like there's no tomorrow.Since I am not one who falls for it, it was easy for me to save up $5000 plus I worked more during Summer than Fall.I had $5000 dollars in my savings by September 2nd! How I did it: My life didn't change drastically during the program. The only difference is that I have learned and now understand some of my fears and negative behavior. Sometimes during meditation, a sentence would just pop into my head; that sentence was the answer to a question or to some of my flaws or negative attitude. There are several techniques to learn and one of them is the Dream Control, in which you first try to recall a dream. After a… Read how I did it…
How I did it: This book offers daily wisdom but since I borrowed it from the library, I chose to read each month a day.I ended up reading it a little faster than expected :)A few quotes I like from the last months read:September 8 When people get angry they lose all sense of happiness...October 20 ....It is important to express one's suffering, not so much the hostility, but rather the suffering.November 22 Look at one person who annoys you, and use th… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I chose to reread this book because the lessons weren't with me.The reading is easy and fast, but what is hard is to keep the 4 agreements, which are:-Be impeccable with your word -Don't take anything personally-Don't make assumptions-Always do your bestOne thing I learned from this book is that we attract in our lives people that are a reflection of what we are because we are a mirror of each other. If I meet an angry person...it's becau… Read how I did it…
How I did it: update (12/29/11): I did not date this year. The reason why is that when I have a boyfriend, my world is all about the guy. And it isn't his fault that everything becomes about him - it's mine. This year I chose to focus on myself and several other things so, when I do have a boyfriend, he won't be my world; he'll be an addition to it.I clicked "done" with this goal a few months ago because I knew that it was best if I didn't date in 2011. How I did it: It has been almost 2 weeks since I completed this goal and I am still taking those cold showers. They feel great in the early morning - awesome way to wake up.The only way, for me, to do this was by jumping under the shower head as the water hit my body. I never started with a warm shower and then switched to cold. I believe that makes the idea of having a cold shower awful. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Every time I failed this goal, I would ask myself, "Why am I not able to keep a smile on for most of the time for a few days?"This question brought me awareness and showed me what I was doing wrong. Being judgmental, quick to anger, impatience or simply not trying hard enough. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I decided to quit drinking soda because I thought it was the root to cellulite. I was a teen and quit cold turkey a few days before Christmas. It was a torture to watch every one drinking soda but I didn't give in.I told myself I would not drink anymore soda and I did. I think the first 6 months might have been the hardest. But after that, I wouldn't take a second look at the soda.I remember once I was somewhere and was really thirsty - t… Read how I did it…
How I did it: The good thing about staying in silence for a full day is that you get to hear yourself. Hear what you are often thinking about and your emotions. The bad thing about it is that you have to limit yourself. Yes, you have to - by staying home. How can you go out if you cannot talk?Today a lady complemented my dog and I just smiled. Then she said something else, and I smiled again. I wasn't supposed to speak! Read how I did it…
