Appreciate all the little things my hubby does for me...

but hubby chased it away with a garden hose & then (this morning) cut down the tree that we think has been attracting it. He might be a city boy, but it made me proud to see that he isn’t afraid to chase off pests & use the chain saw.

Our anniversary came & went. He had the H1N1 flu & I had a cold at the time, so we weren’t exactly in a celebratory mood. Yesterday, he went grocery shopping and returned with five cards & a heart-shaped cookie. So I guess even the Swine Flu didn’t kill ALL the romance.

Today it was an insulated water bottle holder that clamps to my mic stand so I can always have water within arms reach. Hw was in a MUSIC store, full of toys that he loves, and he came home with something for me…

My muscles get so tight being in bed all day. When he sits with me & rubs my back, I’m in heaven. There is no greater healing force than the touch of someone you love…

After my voice lesson, he surprised me with a birthday dinner reservation at Boundry, one of my favorite favorite restaurants. The chef is soo good at layering the perfect flavor combinations & the service is exceptional.

I was expecting to go to the same little fish taco stand where we go almost every week, so this was a very welcome change of pace.

have been brutal this month. I recognize it & try to deal with them, but sometimes it’s tough. Today was a day like that. He came through the bedroom & found me lying there, stil in my jammies.

He: “It’s ten o’clock. Are you gonna get dressed?”

Me: “What for?” I answered without thinking. I was bored & depressed, and my hormonal state kept me from thinking clearly about what to do about it.

I guess he got it because a half-hour later I was getting dressed when he popped his head in to let me know he had planned an afternoon for us, starting with lunch at one of my favorite places & ending at my favorite shoe store. He knew I was down, so he took me to a shoe store. Of course, he bought a pair for himself, but still… a SHOE STORE! ;)

He always remembers the date.

He drove me to & from my voice lesson (200 miles) and on the way home I was flooded with gratitude and pride because of the wonderful man he is. Together, we’re both getting to pursue our dreams. Separately, neither of us could have ever gotten here. I am so grateful that he walked back into my life when he did & that he never took no for an answer…

He was complaining about the calluses on his feet, so I told him he should go with me for a pedicure. We got deluxe pedis with manis, and he really enjoyed it. I think we’re probably going to do this again.

He got something out of it, but still, most men would never have the courage to walk into a roomful of women getting their nails done & feel perfectly fine about it. He has that a quiet confidence that I find extremely appealing. There’s no bravado about him, except on the rarest of occasions, but he doesn’t seem intimidated by much.

I just love him.

After watching me struggle with the cliques at work for weeks, he finally gave me some very good advice… It was the same advice my other friends had already given me, only he knew how to get through…

Then he shared some things with me about a conflict that’s been going on with his old band over their “reunion” show this summer, and I did the same for him.

As a result, I had a great day at work today, and he was able to resolve the situation with the band. We’re sooo different in the way we approach relationships. Either one of us alone is kind of a mess, but we make amazing counterparts.
