My bass playing isn’t bad. It’s not what I’d call GOOD, but it’s not bad. Between the bass & the bits of percussion that I’ve been able to add, I feel like I’ve made a minor contribution to the instrumentals we’ve recorded.

It’s not really THAT difficult & hubby HATES it because (for him) it’s boring. It’s more than enough to keep me challenged, though.

He also bought me a tambourine & some shakers.

We’re laying down a lot of music tracks for some of the other writers in town & he seems intent on making me actually PLAY on some of them. If all I have to do to keep him happy is play a little cowbell, then life is pretty good.

so I’m sitting in. I’ve never played bass before so this should be a trip.

Thankfully, hubby will be there to back me up so I won’t have to carry the whole show… I can handle rhythm, but I’m glad he’s got lead…

is sooo nice… It’s made of Koa, which gives it a nice mellow sound & makes the bass notes richer than most classicals… The shallower body and narrow neck also give it a particular feel that most classicals don’t have… I’ve played so much my fingers are sore…

Hubby taught me a couple of John Fogerty songs and I spent two hours practicing them yesterday…

I used to run a little online music store & learned a lot about gear… We’ve spent probably 75% of our disposable income buying GOOD gear for our new little studio this year, so it’s a shame that I only tinker with the crap that hubby isn’t using anymore… I finally played the Gibson Les Paul for the first time today, ran it through a cool little Fender tweed amp… My Gawd! Did it smoke!

I’m not as confident on the electric guitar as I am on my acoustic, but THIS gear is just too much fun!

but hubby is the only one whoever uses it… Right now I am focusing on piano, but I want to be good at both eventually…
