After a great night out with friends for dinner and pints in Berko, I went to catch the train home. Again, the trains weren’t running, and no one around to explain what’s happening. So I call for a cab. Standing there was the waitress from the Cafe Rouge where we had dinner. She was in a panic, second day on the job, no spare money, no way home. She told me she lived in Watford which was past where I am going. I told her that we could share the cab and I would cover her share. I’m sure she thought I was just and old goat trying to take advantage of her (who me???). After joking with her for a bit, she agreed to risk a ride with me. When the driver dropped me off, I asked what the fare on to Watford would be; I gave it to him plus a tip. As I climb out I told my waitress friend that she owed me nothing and all I expected was that she does something like this for someone else in the future.
I slept very well that night.
