I’m kicking butt at this goal!! I didn’t think I would be able to do it, but my motivation is outweighing my love of the soda!
I’m done. I know how bad it is for me, I know what i’ve been doing to my body and I can’t imagine drinking another diet. I’ve gone 10 days with no soda. Whew!
I haven’t had a soda for 7 days. Oddly, I feel less bloated and swollen all over my body. Its almost like I have deflated. I’m starting to think I might have been allergic (even just a little bit) to aspertame. I do feel better and I have more energy since quitting. I have kept up the caffine though by drinking lots of coffee and tea. Probably not a good switch, but a switch nonetheless!
I have a serious soda addiction. I started drinking regular soda at a very very young age. My parents weren’t the kind of parents who limited my sugar intake or told me that I could only have one soda. I had as many as I wanted. In fact, Coke was administered as a remedy for most things- If I was cranky I got a coke, if I had a stomach ache I got a coke, and headaches were always attributed to the fact that I had not yet had a coke. I drank coke for breakfast and had one with every meal. My coke drinking habits continued well into college. I spent my financial aid money on a large coke from mcDonalds every morning, a soda for class, and then a fridge full of soda after class was over. It was not until the height of the atkins diet (which I decided to try) that I realized I was drinking close to 2500 calories in soda every day. I continued to drink soda under the impression that I could never switch to diet since I hated the taste and couldn’t quit drinking soda altogether because it was part of me! When I started my current job my coworkers all drank diet and were amazed by the fact that I would drink a 42 ouncer of regular coke in the morning and a 42ouncer in the afternoon. 84 ounces of regular soda in an 8 hour work day. After working with these people for over a year I started to realize that diet didn’t taste so bad once you got used to it, and that I could probably lose 15 or 10 lbs just by switching to diet soda. So I did.
Here I am almost a year and a half later drinking close to 82 ounces of diet soda a day and less than 3 lbs lighter than when I was drinking regular soda.not a huge improvment. I’ve heard that diet soda can be just as bad as regular in stopping weight loss- and I know that aspertame is terrible for me! I’ve recently stopped smoking and feel as though if I want to be 100% healthy i’m going to need to stop drinking diet soda and start drinking more water and iced teas. Naturally, this is going to be hard to do, but here I go cold turkey on the Diet Soda!! Day 2!!
