Meet Orlando Bloom. 10 months ago

Okay. Fangirl alert. I don’t care. There’s actually a perfectly good reason for this one that may bring tears to a glass eye. I had gone through a serious heartbreak in mid 2007. To get over it, I decided to book a trip to London and see Orlando perform in his first play since becoming ultra famous, “In Celebration”. It was also a homecoming to see where I was born, get some good fish and chips and a pint, sticky toffee pudding and take in the sights and sounds of Old London Town. I even planned on getting a West Highland White Terrier puppy. First, the mommy turned out not to be pregnant so no puppy. That was my first sign. Then, the South Carolina passport agency messed up my passport and didn’t get it to me until the day I was supposed to come BACK from London and then tried to blame it on me! I turned three shades of lava red and cried for days when I found out I couldn’t go to London and didn’t get to see Orlando perform or get a picture backstage like so many other people did. I don’t know when he’ll be in another play but I’d love the chance to tell him how much I appreciate his work as an actor. So many critics want to tear him down as just some “pretty boy actor” but he has done work with substance that they choose to ignore. “Haven” was absolutely brilliant and he not only had a role in it, he helped produce it. The full, unedited version of “Kingdom of Heaven” is truly epic and the speech he gives to his people makes you raise your glass in tribute. He is underrated and I know that he will prove his critics wrong one day very soon. More importantly, he cares about his role in the world and what he can do to improve it by volunteering his time with Unicef and Global Green. He just needs someone to say, “Hey, you’re okay in my book”. That’s all I want to say. And I wouldn’t turn it down if he brings me a puppy and some fish and chips!
