I often use my iPod when walking somewhere, but I never do that when out with the dog. And I’ve noticed that not only can I think better, it also make me notice more things and connect much better with the world around me (including the dog)...and that makes the walk nicer and me happier. Being outside is so lovely, but when I got my own soundtrack going it kind of puts me in my own little world. I love music, but maybe I should just avoid bringing the headphones when walking around?

Went for a long walk with the dog…absolutely lovely. We normally walk for 20-30 minutes a day, but this time the sun was out and the sky so pretty I made it an hour. It was great :)
Untouched nature, no sounds, just me and the dog interacting, exploring the world around us; enjoying the beautiful weather and me having plenty of time for thoughts and reflection.
I want make these kind of longer walks a regular part of my weeks now. It’s just what I need.
