I feel like I’m getting the hang of this. I have killed numerous plants over the course of my life time. But, I have found my niche! Cactii. I have a Christmas Cactus at work that is doing fantastically and I have an aloe plant at home that is a sturdy little thing.
This summer I have tried petunias in some pots on the north side of my home. I planted them by hand instead of just buying them already in decorative pots. So far, I’ve been successful at keeping them for about four weeks.

I’m on the hunt right now for a compost bin of some sort. They’re realatively cheap while it’s cold out. Hopefully I can pick one up with my tax refund. I’ve been researching all of the necessary things for good compost and feel like I can easily produce some to help fertalize my yard.
I’m also looking into what it would take to start planting things indoors in pots to later transfer outside. There aren’t a lot of websites that reference plants for my climate region or things that are native to Kansas. So, it’s taking a little more research than I originally hoped. Plus, my local garden shops aren’t as helpful as I’d like.
I’m kicking myself for not planting a bunch of bulbs this past Fall. However, I didn’t have the money at the time. Priorities, right?
