Hearing the little voice in your head, but not necessarily acting upon it. Take a moment to pause before acting to his every whim. This voice seeks avoidance of pain, seeks the easiest way out, seeks the path of least resistance. Ignore his laziness! Seize the day!

Being aware of your body ticks. Twirling hair, biting nails, cracking knuckles, picking, scratching, etc. Are you aware that you’re even doing this?

doing one thing at a time.

living a positive lifestyle, on purpose.

running, in nature, without headphones, watch, GPS…etc. Using your breath and your heartbeat as your music and pace-keeper.

being aware of others. Everyone deserves attention and recognition. Be liberal with your use of compliments, thank yous and other kind manners. Hold the door open for that person behind you. Give up your seat for that elderly lady on the bus. Write a ‘just saying hello’ note to a long lost friend. It makes your world that much better.



#6 Mindfulness is...

not being rushed for time. Give yourself enough time to enjoy the present moment. Would setting your alarm clock 15 minutes earlier make a big difference in the morning? Would going to bed 15 minutes earlier at night help too?



#5 Mindfulness is...

planning your day in advance. Setting yourself up for success. Are you dressed right for today’s events? Do you know what you’re having to eat? Are you prepared for work/school? Are you in a mindset to succeed?



#4 Mindfulness is...

focusing on the food when you eat. Not reading, talking, watching TV, etc. Focus on the texture, flavor and aroma. Every meal can be a great experience for the senses, if we pay attention.



#3 Mindfulness is...

being aware of everything that you put into your body. Food, drinks, medicine, toxins and otherwise. Know when you’re full. Know when you’ve had enough to drink. Your body is a canvas – what you put into it drives the level of health & energy of your life. Think about the long term effects of everything you do.
