3 keyboards, 1 docking station, some cables & old memory chips = gone! 10 months ago

I loaded up a box of obsolete items and took them into work yesterday. They can either re-deploy or discard – and the stuff is now gone from my house! Hooray for less clutter :)

Some of the old tech is company property - easy to return! 10 months ago

I have a docking station for a laptop I haven’t had in over a year. Memory chips for obsolete machines. Keyboards.

I have to make a trip into our local office for meetings tomorrow. I’m going to bring a box of the obsolete stuff and drop it off – then it will no longer be my problem :)

Really old stuff 10 months ago

Bellsouth DSL filters? In triplicate? Caller ID add-on boxes?

No, they aren’t computer hardware – but they fall in the general category of old technology that is taking up space and most certainly isn’t needed any longer.

I have enough extra co-axial cable and phone wire to furnish a small office.

I’ve started a box of these items so I can take them to Goodwill at some point this month. It’s funny, but even though I know I haven’t used these things in years; they’re entirely obsolete and not going to be needed – there’s still a pang at the idea of purging it. At one time, these were all integral parts of my connection to the outside world. There’s a nostalgia and remnant fondness that makes it hard to let go.

3 serial port keyboards 10 months ago

No one wants them. I guess they’re going in the Goodwill pile…

Bring on the Tech Support 11 months ago

I’ve got a dear friend who is an IT guy coming over Friday to “de-tech” the house in preparation for moving. He’ll help me assess what to keep and what to donate / ditch, so I only bring useful things with me when I move.
