How did this get marked done? 7 months ago

(And I can’t figure out how to reactivate it now, either.)

So, I’ll just have to go into my list, and do entries this way, I guess.

I’ve paid off one of the medical bills, and the other was misfiled with insurance. And for a few months I haven’t seen any correspondence from them saying I owe anything further.

I’ve also paid off another student loan in February of this year. So, that leaves two more student loans to go with about a little less than $2000.00 to go to pay off the other two.

I’m hoping I can really say this is done in about two years.

I seem to be going a little backward on this goal... 14 months ago

but I guess that just happens sometimes. A while back I had two medical bills added to the mix of student loans I have to pay on. That adds about $500 in addition to the loans. I’m paying what I can, but I don’t understand why my insurance didn’t pay more of these. Up until this time I’ve not had anything more than copays, and I always check the website or call the provider or insurance company to make sure that they are covered under my network. Maybe I’ll make some phone calls now just to check.

I've had to be a little more conservative this month... 16 months ago

than planned due to needing to save a little for getting my car’s brakes worked on. But, I didn’t let that be an excuse to only make a minimum payment. Today, I made my monthly payment with the equivalent of 4 minimum payments today on the loan I’m focusing on getting rid of. (There are two others after this one.)

I've had one of my friends... 17 months ago

be really realistic about some things that relate to my financial world today when I was discussing some potential changes I wanted to explore with my job today. He convinced me that it was in my best interest to stay in my current position and what I would be sacrificing by making a transfer. I started thinking about how if I could rearrange my budget to work with a pretty significant amount less money to make that change, I could be putting a more significant amount toward this goal. If I was able to put a certain amount a month toward debt-reduction and be consistent with that for 8 months and just make the sacrifices to do that…I can accomplish this goal! It’s got me to thinking a lot!

It's quite a bit later than I thought this would happen... 20 months ago

but it’s happened. Student loan number one has bitten the dust today! One down, and three to go. YEA!!!! :D

This is becoming more and more important to me. 21 months ago

I do not feel like I will be able to start a master’s program until I have paid off my bachelor’s degrees student loans. I want to get them paid off and switch to another position within my company that will be more conducive for me to work and go to school at the same time. The more I think about it the more motivated I become to do this.

I'll be able to kill another... 2 years ago

item of debt by next week if all goes as is planned! Student loan number one should be able to die soon! Yea!!! Then there’ll be three more to kill as swiftly as possible.

I have to say... 2 years ago

that I’d never have thought that budgeting would make as much of a difference with this for me. I have not overspent since I’ve started doing my budget, and I usually have a little or lot left over at the end of the month. I also am able to make decisions on stuff I want to buy that’s not absolutely necessary a lot easier. (For instance I want a new machine to play my cassette tapes, because my stereo system no longer works, and after looking at the budget, it looks like it might be a few months.) I still impulse spend occasionally, but it’s not nearly as bad.

I am so very thankful... 2 years ago

today that I have someone that is helping support me in this goal off-site. Today I got some feedback about my budget and an item about a trip that I want to take next month. I’ve had very mixed emotions about doing it, because I really want to go. But, I really want for this goal’s progress to be advanced. My adviser’s response to it is she “doesn’t know about it.” Choices, choices! I’m going to have to make a decision soon, too.

Just when I thought I wasn't... 2 years ago

going to have any serious temptations to slow this goal down for a while, I get invited to the baby shower of one of my all-time best friends in Kansas City next month! At times like this I’m glad I have support here, and an accountability partner for my finances! I’m going to have to think long and hard about this. I want to do this, but it may not be prudent at this time. :-/
