I imagine my editing is nearly done. Before I add more sound effects, dub more dialogue and finish the music I’m going to run a test screening to see if the film is the right length and the story is intelligible to a sample of people. :-D
Create a questionaire!
Must remind myself who can attend that night:
PJA & Lisa, BFM, DS, Ron & Roger…

My film is in post-production. Specifically things slowing me down, which I’d love to discuss with all of you out there, are the following:
1. The “workflow” of using Adobe After Effects. Tell me what you guys do!
2. Rendering in Adobe Premiere with a decent codec that gives crisp images and can handle movement/action. Not too bothered about file sizes as I have lots of disc space.
I think I’ve been using Divx/Mpeg4 or something. It’s fast to encode and files are small, but I think it’s a demo version and I can’t use the highest settings? It is a little blocky and overly compressed but no worse than other codecs in Premiere (except Cinepak/Radius which takes forever). It’s been OK for rushes, but I’ll need something supreme for future versions. Also it seems to “blur” action. Maybe this is a keyframe issue (which I’ve never understood?!).
3. Recording an original soundtrack, I’m OK with this just need time! :-D

I’ve finished with production (after 7 years, and building on footage of my Grandad’s from 30 years ago!) on a feature-length fantasy adventure film. I’m now editing (aiming for 90 mins running time) and looking at sound, overdubs and music along with visual effects and titles etc. The film doesn’t have a title, but I’m hoping that will reveal itself. I’ll be checking back in with you all as I hit snags and need your expertise. I wanted to move this beyond a dream and a wish. It is reality (though it took the place of a girlfriend and much of a social life for a few years I think!). :-D
