Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

I can now happily mark this goal of 2012 as done :-)

It is nearly the end of the year and I guess I can mark this goal as done. I have had a great year in 2012. I did great things just as I hoped. I travelled to the new places, and I had a fab. summer holiday. Travelling is always on the top of my list :-)

Visited lots of museums and exhibitions. I went to the theatres to see wonderful plays and watched a musical. Plus went to a concert of Don McLean and listened to his beautifully soft voice. I had very tasty foods with friends and with my partner. I tasted better wines from different grapes that I hadn’t tried before. I also had the best and most different variety of coffees this year too. And I watched 70+ movies in 2012.

I did most of the things that I planned to do this year. The things I could not work on will have to wait until 2013. Because I am going to find time for those that I could not manage to fit in my schedule for one or another reason in 2012.

Hope next year will be as good as this year.

Paco Pena Quimeras

I had bought tickets for this months ago and we went to see it on Friday night at Sadler’s Wells. My thoughts on it are, it was cultural and it had political and humanitarian story in it. But I was not impressed with it. It got boring at times. Something was missing or the story was not right for a dance show. I don’t know something was wrong.

But, I loved watching one of the woman flamenco dancer. She looked very Spanish. Her figure was perfect for this dance and her fuller figure made it so enjoyable to watch. There were 2 flamenco dancers on the show. The other woman was dark blonde that did not fit into Spanish Flamenco dancers image. She was too slim that I could not see her legs movements in her dresses as every dress she wore was too loose. She was too tall and her long skinny arms looked ugly when she was dancing.

I feel like I am a judge at the Strictly but I really think that she did not fit in this show. You don’t need to be a professional dancer not to be able to see the missing points.

A perfect date with my partner

We went to have sushi first. A visit to the cinema followed that and we went to TGI Fridays for some cocktails afterwards. This date turned out to be one of the best as the sushi was delicious, the movie was very funny and cocktails were delicious. Luckly the barman at the TGI Fridays was a perfect cocktail maker. I have always loved TGI Fridays. Can be too noisy with birthday celebrations and family dinners at times but none of those bother me. There is always quite spots to eat or drink with girlfriends or partner by the bar.

We both had a great time together.

My trip to Italy in August

Now I must mention about this fab.7 days trip/holiday to Italy.

I think this was one of the best holiday I have had. Italy is a fascinating country with their historic sites to visit and the beautiful seaside, the countryside, their food and generally everything they have is fantastic.

Here it is the places we saw and I want to make notes are:

1- Rome – The Roman remains, The Collesseum, Vatican- St Peters Church and Basilica, Trevi Mountain, their famous Spanish steps

The things I didn’t see were the Vatican Museum. It was a bank holiday on the day we were in Rome and it was shut. I didn’t see the Pantheon as there was just not enough time to do it all. Which is a shame really :-(

2- Mountain Vesuvio and Pompeii- We took a daily tour to Mountain Vesuvio and to Pompeii. Which was a fascinating historic trip

3- Cinque Terre – We went to stay in Corniglio. But also visited the other 4 lands named Monterosso, Vernazza, Riomaggiore and Manorola. The beauty of these 5 lands are breath taking. We saw lots of places and we swam here almost at eac of our destination on that day.

I would love to go to Cinque Terre again and this time I’d stay either at Riomaggiore or at Manorola. Corniglio was great too.

4- Venice – What can I add about Venice other than what it is already known. It is so beautiful and romantic. But it is more romantic winter time that’s why we booked flight to go therefore for my birthday. I can’t wait.

I’d like to mention about one more thing. I don’t take photos like mad during my holidays as I believe I need to see it and record it all in my memory. But during this trip I felt like I had to take loads of photos. And I am happy that I did. I have one album with great views and all brings great memories back in my mind.

By the way as much as this trip was a delight but it was also extremely tiring as it was a very active one. We walked, hiked and swam. As seen on this photo people swim by/from the rocks. I got cut on my hands and feet. I am sure the Italians are used to this but I wasn’t :-) All I can say is that I fell asleep as soon as I saw the pillows in our hotel rooms at nights.

Attached photo is the view of Manorola .

Summer Holiday in Bodrum Bodrummmm...

I am going on a sUmMeRR holiday, YAY. There will be the sea and plenty of sunshine. I am so in need of this holiday as this winter was too cold. My bones and flesh in need of soaking up the Sun.

An other thing is that I have just developed a hay fever and some other allergies developed this spring. (First time in my life. In my opinion I have became allergic to London) This is affecting my left eye and stopping me to wear my contact lenses. So, I am 4 eyes now ;-) But with the new better looking frames.

Anyhow, there will also be the food like fresh Mediterranean fish which I love warm water fish, kebabs, locally grown fruit and veggies and lots of salad. And and the deserts like walnut baklava etc. And will meet my best friend AL there too. Like Martinis, Vodka in Cosmopolitans and even maybe some good wine. Who know what is waiting for me :-)

This will of course not about having a only a sunshine holiday. I will also book daily cultural / heritage tours to go to 1. to Ephesus. And 2. to be decided when I am there probably to Pamukkale.

After this trip I will not be posting the details of social activities here any more. I have been doing fantastic this year and it is almost the middle of the year. I am sure the rest of the year will carry on this way. But instead I would like to concentrate on the entries of my other goals like “ get to know plants, trees…. “ etc.

So bye bye rainy London and hi to sunny Bodrum.

PS: This is where I will be sunbathing and jumping in the cold water of Aegean Sea.

Wine tasting event in London

I went to a wine tasting at the week end. They had something like 80 wines to try. I did not try them all obviously and spat it out the ones I did not like. This event was during the day and it was too hot to start wine tasting so early.

So, my plan was to try some grapes I did not know of. And some of my favs grapes wine made by not so obvious countries. And tried most of the Italian red wines. I have not been able to find good Italian wine but was hopeful this time. But the connoisseur told me that the Italian wines are not so popular and I am not the one to think this way. He told me that one needs to know what food to match it with to bring the flavour out. But to me I should be able to enjoy a wine with or without food and not to struggle with it.

Plus I only would like to know a wine by the grape variety. In Italy they come under the region name. So that is also a put off. So the conclusion of this event was I now know I can not force myself liking something I don’t like and will have the ones I like having.

I have to say that wine tasting events are great social events. And at this one the connoisseurs were very informative and nice. I enjoyed the whole experience very much.

Watched Antony and Cleopatra at Shakespear's Globe

I went to see my all time favorite love story at the Shakespear’s Globe yesterday. It was sunny and nice and was a perfect day to sit at this open air theater and watch this play.

Loved it.

I went to Barcelona in April. Seen almost all of Gaudi’s works which I thought were amazing and visited lots of museums. Had delicious tapas and cavas and wine. Additionally went to a daily wine and cave tour covered Penedes area.

It was one great trip and I had a great time.

Vertigo 42

I went to this place last night. Even though this place was not my choice to go – I was invited by a friend – I am glad I went. I liked everything about it. The view, the drinks and the food was excellent with a good ambience.

And we went there at an excellent time so we could see it all of London while it was light and after it got dark. It was fab.

Very expensive though! But for a place like that what do you expect? Their rent should not be cheap!

Theatre - The Merchant of Venice

I will see this at the theatre here in London this week end.
