Seeing an active volcano....

is just right in line with the things I think are fascinating in the world. A volcano is one of those pure elemental objects in nature that like tornados and earthquakes and other natural phenomena, that mankind can simply observe, avoid, flee and survive, but which we can’t control. A part of the creation that is a stark reminder that there are forces at work in the universe that are completely beyond the capability of humankind to do a damn thing about.
