I read Darwin’s autobiography a few months ago. It’s an interesting glance into his life.
And today I finished a wonderful biography, The Reluctant Mr. Darwin. It’s a good book about the creation of Darwin’s theory that doesn’t neglect his personal life.
I’m intrigued by Darwin’s shift away from religion as his work developed. It’s such a personal thing in his life, but such a public dilemma in ours. I guess it means I’m going back for some Dawkins.

It’s like a mix of the Darwin family memory books. I think there’s a lot to learn from this kind of a book, getting to know the person behind the theory. I’ll probably read a biography next. The origin of species can wait :)
This was a long book, especially since I read most of it sick and almost fell asleep during the reading (but not from bordom!).
It explains some of the subject in a nice and easy to understand way, but for some other subjects it made a mess where there was a clear thought before. I guess it’s the nature of books to raise more questions than answers, even if it’s a book in which there’s a clear declaration of “I’m right and here’s the written proof”.
I’m glad I read this book and I think it was a good start to this goal. The next step will be Darwin himself with his Origin of Species.
I need to finish what I’m reading now, to finish my studies (ahhhhh) and then, after I finish reading the hitchhiker series, I’m moving to this goal.
I plan to read these books:
The Blind Watchmaker \ Richard Dawkins
The Origin Of Species \ Charles Darwin
Almost Like a Whale \ Steve Jones
I started with The Blind Watchmaker a while ago but left it because I had too much things to read at once. I’ll get back to it soon.
