Kinda? 2 years ago

I did this over the weekend, but it was making finished drawings every day. I think I meant this goal to say “sketch” something everyday. Anyway, this goal will no doubt come to pass because I am back in the swing, just in time for art school. Drawing is so much fun when you believe in yourself to begin with.

Paintings! 2 years ago

I’ve made paintings and they’re a hit with my friends and even complete strangers! My confidence is returning and I am enjoying this more and more. This feels good! I’m also working on an illustration for a friend’s story, and a drawing contest to win my dream car. I’m not up to drawing every day, but I’m drawing occasionally…which is better than not at all!

take a class! 2 years ago

So, I scrounged up the cash to take a drawing class at the community college. I drawing in class and making spectacular work to put in my portfolio for art school applications. Also, we are required to sketch people outside of class as well. The best way to form a habit is to start doing it! I am hopeful!

Breakthrough! 3 years ago

I drew something! I took the advice of a dear friend, who struggled as I did once upon a time. I drew a line…then another line, until I saw something in the lines I’d drawn. Then all I had to do was add on and complete the picture. It worked!

It’s hard to believe that I haven’t drawn a thing since my last entry on this. I’m dragging my feet on this one. For some reason the stress in my life is keeping me from drawing. Isn’t stress supposed to inspire drawing? I know that a hundred ideas have flitted through my brain in the past week. I’ve written them down to remember them, but instead of drawing, I take care of other obligations. I went to the park tonight and sat in the evening sun watching some people play soccer. I almost drew something, then erased it. I think I’m afraid of not being able to draw what’s in my head. Why not let go and just let it happen? Whatever ends up on the paper will be good enough. I’m going back to the park tomorrow night and I’m going to draw anything at all. I’ll leave my eraser at home.

Draw Anything... 3 years ago

This is probably one of the more exigent goals of my list. It’s been at least four years since I’ve seriously dedicated myself to artwork. I am wasting my talent and depriving others of the beauty the comes from my mind. I am holding it in and ignoring it, and my soul has been suffocating ever so slowly during this time. Rather than force myself to come up with a masterpiece out of the blue, I’ve decided the best method is to just draw something everyday, as simple as a single line. It’s got to help. I believe I will feel significantly better when I live my talent once again.
