Did you know you can make your own liquid laundry detergent? You can! I’ve been using this recipe for a couple of months now. It’s much more cost-effective than buying the pre-mixed version from the grocery store. (The author of the post says that for about $6 you can wash 576 loads of laundry.)
A couple of notes:
- “Liquid” is something of a misnomer. It really comes out more gelatinous.
- For everyday laundry this recipe works quite well. I haven’t tried it on anything particularly nasty. If you’re going to spend the day frolicking around in mud puddles, you might want to keep something full-strength on-hand just in case. :D

The house we’re currently living in has one more bedroom than our last one did. That’s great because it means we have extra space, the only downside is that we don’t have enough decor to go on all the walls. To help rectify that problem, this week I made a thrifty book wreath. I had intended it to go on a blank rather small wall in the entry way, but it sticks out a little farther than I’d anticipated so I may have to put it somewhere else.

I spent $1 on the book (I got it at Dollar Tree) and $5 on the foam wreath I used for the base (a la Hobby Lobby). I already had a glue gun and glue sticks on hand. So I was only out $6 for this project.
If you’re interested in making one too, you can find the instructions here.
