because I’m really tired of having this goal on my list.

34). Dave Barry’s humor column in the Miami Herald.

35). Lifehacker always has some interesting and helpful tips.

36). This isn’t exactly a website, but it’s an awesome three minute montage covering 500 years of female portraiture in Western art.

37). The Digital Photography School blog always has great information for photographers.

38). Real Simple is one of my favorite magazines. It’s a nice site to visit if you’re trying to simplify your life.

39). If you want to send a care package to a soldier overseas, Any Soldier is a good place to start. You can see what different soldiers need and request addresses so you can send them the items.

40). Layers Magazine is chock full of new photoshop tips and techniques.

41). Want to take a college course just for your own edification? MIT
has a huge variety of classes you can take online for free. You can’t earn college credit for them, but if you’re curious about Cognitive Robotics, Paleoceanography, or even Arthurian Literature and Celtic Colonization, you’re sure to find those courses and much more here.

42). Homestar Runner is just a fun website with zany characters and funny animations.

43). And last but not least, Pandora can help you discover new music. Simply put in a song title or an artist you like and Pandora will bring up similar music you may never have heard before.

33). This website is authored and maintained by a woman named Elena. She takes occasional long, fast motorcycle rides through the Chernobyl disaster area along with her trusty geiger counter (a device used to measure the level of radiation present). The pictures of her travels are simply fascinating.

32). GasBuddy helps you locate the lowest gas prices in your area. (I believe it only covers the US and Canada right now.)

29). Obviously has an awesome list of techniques you can use to stop telemarketers from calling you and for removing your name from junk mail lists.

30). If you need to find out if a particular domain name you want is available, PC Names is a good place to start.

31). GuerillaMail“provides you with disposable e-mail addresses which expire after 15 Minutes. You can read and reply to e-mails that are sent to the temporary e-mail address within the given time frame.” This site is particularly helpful if you want to register for something but you don’t want to give out your personal email account.

28). Kottke.org often has interesting posts, like this one: 50 Fun Things to Do With Your iPod.

I really want to try the first one on the list. How much fun would it be to hijack someone else’s radio? :P

24). Freecycle is a wonderful way to get rid of some of your unwanted stuff. “It’s a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It’s all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills.” You can check the website to see if there’s a group near you.

25). Mr.McGroovy’s has neat plans for transforming appliance boxes into castles, pirate ships, fire trucks, etc. for kids to play in. He also shares tips on where to find boxes, which is more difficult than it used to be.

26). Here’s a virtual keyboard you can play.

27). Feeling a bit stressed? Take it out on some bubblewrap!

Family Fun has lots of crafts and fun things for kids to do. One thing I like about the site is that the projects are sorted by the age of the child. : )

21). If you’re interested in names, the Baby Name Wizard is a fun site to visit. It charts the popularity of any given name all the way back to the 1880’s.

22). Since I’m not exactly fluent in chat jargon, I sometimes visit NetLingo when I come across an acronym (like GR2BR, or SOTMG) I’m not familiar with.

17). “GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages.” This wording comes straight from the GIMP website. They said it much better than I could.

18). I visit Mapquest quite often to get driving directions.

19). If you live in a major city in the US, you may want to visit Traffic.com to see which roads to avoid.

20). Got some free time on your hands? Consider volunteering! Volunteer Match will point you to opportunities in your area.

Ever since “TV Links” disappeared from cyberspace, I’ve been turning to Surf the Channel to get my TV fix. It’s got movies, TV shows, and music videos you can watch for free.
