Alex has been freaking out when we go for long walks – he waits until he senses we’ve gone as far as we’re going then starts shrieking as soon as we are headed home. He’s 23lbs now and carrying him a mile or two is not something I want to do unless we’re fleeing the Nazis or a volcano or something.
So yesterday we walked for about forty five minutes around and around the same block.
It was actually quite nice. He yelled at some squirrels, watched a lady swinging on a porch swing, and got so excited about someone’s sprinkler that we had to park there for ten minutes or so the third time around the block. At first he would clap every time the water went back upward. Then he wanted ME to clap too and scolded me until I did it with him. So we were both clapping to beat the band every time the sprinkler peaked. At that point I saw one of the neighbors watching from the window and from her angle I wasn’t sure she could see the stroller. Oh well, at least I got my walk.

Walked twice more today. Actually it was more like swimming. It is so humid I have taken to not wearing make-up and putting my hair in a ponytail (NOT flattering). Bumped into a colleague and he didn’t recognize me at first with my sweaty face and missing hair.

one last night and another this morning. The problem is that the weather is so yucky that even Alex freaks out and wants to go home within half an hour. We give him a plastic cup that my husband once had an iced coffee in – thrashing it around seems to calm him somewhat. Probably everyone who sees us thinks we’ve given him an iced coffee. And come to think of it, he looks like he’s had an iced coffee.

My husband & I just walked to the Co-op to get some dinner and took a short detour on the way back to take in the scenery, get a little air, entertain Alex, etc. I have to say, this 90+ degree weather really makes it hard to walk more! And when it is so hot we decide to have ice cream for dinner (being a grown-up rocks!) I’m glad the goal isn’t to lose weight!
