stop throwing clothes on the floor

I put a bunch of baskets in my closet, AND… I’ve stopped drawing the “not quite clean” distinction. Not clean in the hamper, clean in the proper closet basket. Making my bed, I’ve found is also a huge help in controlling when I chuck clothing!

It’s totally getting better!

I’ve started cleaning up a bit, the living room is all lovely, but the bedroom is still pretty much a wreck. Today I put away allmost all the clothing on my chair – which is actually where I throw my clothes, not the floor.

It’s got like three things on it, two skirts that need to be hung up, and my graduation robe (go figure), so if I can keep it like that, and keep all the clothes off of it, maybe I can make this goal.

So, yeah, I’ve only been here for a couple days, and I know this is on my list and I have every intention to work on it. An interesting thing happened while I was looking through the lists here:

A lot of people who have tidy-up-goals are on the Fly Lady list, or want to adhere to the fly lady list, etc. I don’t want to make it one of my 43 things, because I don’t know if I feel like it’s a thing, it seems to be more of a way to accomplish things.

I made a closet today, so that’s a start to fixing the clothes on the floor problem, and I’m going to tack up the fly lady routine. Maybe a combination of the two will facilitate this goal.

I’m cheered by the fact that there are, currectly, 110 other people who have trouble making their clothes find their hampers. (BTW, I think it’s an odd Americanism that we only use the term hamper for laundry here, and on occassion “picnic hamper”)

It’s not really dirty clothing that gives me a problem, it’s the slightly dirty ones. The shorts I wore for an hour or two when I got home from work, or the socks I wore for ten minutes when I pulled on my sneakers to run to the store. The fact that all my clothes are currently in large cardboard moving boxes I would like to feel contributes to this problem, but at the same time, I still have clothes all over the floor (or rather, all over the “clothing chair”) at my old place too.

hmm…
