I’ve gotten a bit better. The other day before work I cleaned out my t-shirt basket and my long sleeve shirt basket (yes they are both necessary)
T-shirts are hard to throw away, which is why I had so very many of them. There are a handful worn to the right softness, and others that come from particlar events. It’s hard to remind yourself that you don’t need a t-shirt to prove you were somewhere.
At least the baskets are a little emptier than they were, which means if I ever get around to doing laundry, I’ll have room to put them away.

For some reason, as much as I’m cleaning things up, I’m not getting rid of anything. I can’t really need all this stuff, it’s impossible!
Mostly so far, it’s been books and clothing going to the Goodwill, they’re things I have more of than anything else, so that’s not a surprise. I need to sort out my clothes… I save things out of utility “it’s aperfectly good t-shirt, and I still wear it…” but I still wear all my t-shirts, that doesn’t mean I need them all. I’m doing better on books, though. I pick up a couple at the goodwill, and bring them back when I’m done. If I desperately want to keep one, one of my others have to go.

I made up two boxes for the goodwill, planning on dropping them off after I drove my mother back to the train after her weekend visit.
When I woke up I found she had unpacked the boxes, and wondered if I hadn’t unpacked them yet. She clearly felt I couldn’t live without a number of those things. Thankfully, whatever she did not take home with her went back in the box, and to the goodwill later that afternoon. Two boxes were a start, but not nearly enough.
