Snowed in...

I got no workouts in last week. The weather where I am just did not cooperate. Well that and the amount of work that I have sitting on my desk. Even now…sitting in the middle of “Blizzard 2010” I don’t know that I will be able to make it out to the gym to get my workouts in. I am actually quite annoyed by it all. I want to get on the ‘mill. I was doing so well. I actually ran for 20 minutes and walked for 10. (4min run/2 min walk 5 reps) That is saying a lot.

I did do some weights yesterday, so it is not running, but I did do something. Here’s to a better week next week.

Going to hit the gym today...

10mi race in April

So, I signed up for a 10 mile race in April and am considering doing a half marathon at the end of the year. If figure, once I tackle the 10 miler, another 3.1 miles is nothing.

Plan on joining DC Fit running group w/ a friend and hope that this plan will help me along. I know it will help me along. It is a win-win-win-win; I train and stay motivated for the 10 mi race, I accomplish one race which keeps me motivated for the next race (13.1), I lose weight and feel healthier, and will be on track to drop a few pounds before wedding dress shopping and the wedding itself.

I am back at it again. PodRunner has this cool podcast that basically will take you from no miles to a 10K. So that is what I am using now. I did slack off a bit last week and this week, but I hope to be back to it by the end of the week.

Whoo hoo. Considering signing up for the half in Miami for 2009.

I have not run in what feels like eons. i always get lazy and fall off track the closer the half marathon gets. it has been over 2 months if i am not mistaken that i have not exercised, much less jog/run. i have to get back into it. just so much going on. i know, i know . . . no excuses. just do it.

ran a mile, walked a mile

I ran a half mile all together. . then a quarter mile, separated by walking and then ran another quarter mile. It was very hard to push myself in all of the heat, but I did it. Made myself go. I realize that running is a lot about pushing yourself when you think you can’t. It is a mind game. Yesterday, I won.


1 mile NON-STOP!

yep, last week Tuesday I think? Maybe it was Wednesday . .. anywho . . .I ran a whole mile non-stop on the treadmill at 5.0 speed. The incline was on zero . . . but I have never run a whole mile straight . . . much less 12 minutes straight! I am soooo proud of myself. I am sure I could have accomplished this sooner, but I am lazy. I don’t like to push myself. That is the thing. So, this was surely a huge accomplishment. I am back to it today. I need to start running on the pavement. Getting ready for the weather in Miami and just creating my own momentum . . . vs. the treadmill’s momentum.

This week is a wrap

It is not happening. I am preparing for a wedding that is out of town and have a bunch of errands to prepare for my day off and the wedding…so no time this week. I have looked at my schedule up and down and there is no time for a real work out. Maybe once I arrive in SC, I can get a run in, otherwise, like I said . . .it’s a wrap!

Feelin’ good

Ran a total of a mile yesterday

I know I completed the half marathon, but that was based on a run/walk ratio. So, I would run for 2 minutes and then walk for 2 mintues. My objective is to increase the length of the run and decrease the length of the recovery. So for like a month I would run a quarter mile . . . one lap and then walk one lap. So that is manageable. So now this month, I am focusing on running a half mile and then walk a half mile. I can probably decrease the walk to a quarter mile, but I will do this run .50/ walk .50 for like 2 weeks and see how I feel. If I am feeling good w/ it, I will decrease the recovery time to run .50/walk .25. Feeling good. Did 3 miles all in all . . . one mile running and the 2 walking.

Feeling encouraged . .. .
