So I’m not just going to be in the front row when my dance class performs for the first time, I’m going to be the front row. I’m nervous about it, but also feel really good about having the potential to catch on to this. I’m a long way from being a good bellydancer, but I’m proud of myself for making a start. I’m the same girl that wouldn’t wear short sleeves outside just a couple of months ago, and now I’m going to be dancing in front of strangers in a tank top (no sparkly bras yet, we’re just beginners).

When I’m dancing, I feel really great just the way I am, but I saw some pictures of myself with the kids at work, and they really bothered me. My face just looks pudgy and awful. Obsessing about it is only going to encourage more stress eating, so I need to do something instead of moping about it. I have time to make some changes before my performance, which will help me to feel so much more confident. Not so much because of the actual weight that I hope that I’ll lose, but because I know that doing something positive for myself makes me feel better about everything.
